Have you ever heard the old proverb, " Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day."
" Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime."
Lately people have been emailing me to tell me to sign a petition to some politician or our president to help the poor in some far off country, while my heart bleeds for these countries, my question always would be, " when are we going to help the poor in this country"?
Yes it is true that many have shipped, mailed or dropped off money, food, and goods going to reservations around the country, unfortunately like with those far off countries, the well to do tribal committee takes what it wants from the goods sent, then holds a yard sale with the rest, the elders and the poor natives see none of the goods.
We need to contact places close to each reservation like the salvation army, Habit for humanity, a church group, school groups, boy and girl scouts, that will receive all of the goods, go onto the reservations ( most if not all have a church group on or near by) this group can contact the elders and the tribal members and pass these goods out face to face.
The federal government has grants for natives on the reservations to work at this, like it was a salvation store.
