between Sachem Uncas of our Mohegan/Pequot people and Chief Miantinomo of the
Narragansett people
Mohican/Pequot/Mohegan's first Village.
I am sure that you have already found everything that you need from all
of those tribes up in New England however, let us now talk with some knowledge
from the ancestors of both of our people?
If you are looking for the beginning of the feud between these two
tribes we should start at the beginning of these two tribes in New England?
From my knowledge from my elders, now ancestors, this group of people
called Narragansett's came down from what is now known as Canada as traveling
nomads with interest in taking over all of the lands of our people.
Long before Miantinomo and Uncas the Moheganeak's, now called Pequot's and Mohegan's, (this
is another story) were fresh from being beat down all of the way from the Great
Lakes (their homeland) and had just finished clearing, planting, and building a
home for themselves along the Pequot river.
After so many years of fighting with enemies and having no room to be
pushed farther east into the ocean they almost completely annihilated the
invaders from the north.
Each year the enemy from the north would build up their war machine and
when large enough sneak down trying to conquer our people, each time they have
been pushed back.
After each battle many of the enemies warriors and their family's joined
the Mohegan's for fear of sure death!
Chief Miantinomo( this tribe
is not of a Matriarch society so should have no Sachem or Sagamores) was just
one of many charged with the reasonability of destroying our people.
Yes it is true that, with a lot of help, they
did completely wipeout the Pequot's ( just another story) however, never have
won against Sachems of the Mohegan people.
