Martin
Luther King Jr. Day
Is
January
21st 2019
Once
again Martin Luther King Jr. Day is just around the corner
And
Once
again 'Florida Sanitation Handlers' and many other Florida companies do not
have the day off!
I believe that since
my retirement (health), while handing out Christmas cards to, mail persons, oil
or gas drivers, and Sanitation Handlers,
I might
have seem maybe three that were a 'White,Florida Sanitation 'Handlers'person' at least in Florida?
Martin
Luther King Jr. Day (officially Birthday of Martin Luther King,
Jr. and sometimes referred to as MLK Day)
is an American
federal holiday marking the birthday
of Martin
Luther King Jr. It is observed on the
third Monday of January each year, which is around King's birthday, January 15.
The
earliest Monday for this holiday is January 15 and the latest is January 21.
Though the holiday was not in existence at the time, Martin
Luther King Jr.'s Birthday (established 1983)
is celebrated on the third Monday in January, which falls on January 15–21,
instead of King's actual birth date, January 15, for the same reasons, as well
as to provide additional distance between it and the Christmas/New Year’s holidays.[citation needed]
The law relocated the date of Columbus Day to the same
date as Thanksgiving in Canada. Several Canadian provinces would later establish Family Day which coincides with Washington's Birthday.
