Matriarch in our Indigenous tribe.

Matriarch tribe refers to a group of people that treat a female as at least an equal to a male.

What is the role of a head matriarch in indigenous tribes?

The Matriarch in our Indigenous tribe ( the Eastern Woodland American Native people) is the oldest female (Oldest in knowledge in culture, ceremonies and the tribe)

Oldest in this instance refers to knowledge about the tribe and not automatically because of the number of years.

Many times a leader may find that an adopted person, after completing a 13 Moon ceremony, will make the best female tribal leader, because that person has learned our ways without outside interference and if they do go through this ceremony, everyone knows that they really do wish to be related.

I also wrote about this earlier on.

Herbs are Tobacco, Sweet grass, Sage, Herbs and Cigarettes!

I have a tracker on my websites, not to be nosy, merely because I want to keep track of what people wish to get information about!
Native American Herbs and Tobacco are still the number one question out on the Internet!
As with Native American names, one should never have to pay for any Sacred Herb! Herbs not previously blessed from Creator are not Sacred. Native American Tobacco is Kinnick~Kinnick, Sweet Grass, and Sage.
You can always purchase non sacred Native American Tobacco ( Kinnick-Kinnick) on line if you trust the site, or you can purchase Kinnick-Kinnick at your local powwow gathering.

Please remember, there is nothing sacred about any chemical, they are all poison so, what you would be saying if gifting tobacco to this person is, I poison you!
If you do not know how to get a native name or native herbs that have been blessed correctly, never buy a name or herbs, never sell native names or native herbs! Creator is watching!
Only Creator can Bless a name or herbs, or anything else for that matter. Back before first contact Traditional Native American Tobacco was not used for smoking, Period!
I cannot believe that anyone would enjoy smoking Kinnick~Kinnick, Sweet ~Grass or Sage, I could not believe that anyone would ever enjoy smoking a Cigarette either however, I was wrong on that one, as you already know!
This tobacco was much to strong for smoking so, the Europeans mixed chemicals into tobacco making it smooth enough to get hooked on, just like they did with Fire water!
The only exception to smoking was in our Friendship pipe, this would show a true interest about the making of friends, even then it was not inhaled!
Native American Tobacco has many uses, all of these uses are for the good of the people, never for harm as with smoking!

My ancestors were simple common sense people.

Their tobacco was grown without chemicals, the ancestors did not need them!

Today our elders know that cigarettes cause cancer, even if they smoke, someone that they know and love has died a horrible death from this cancer.

Please do not insult them by an offering of a cancer causing cigarette.

Will you please use Kinnick~ Kinnick (herbs)?

the Indigenous people.

CNN Health news today 06/08/2011
EPA moves to ban the sale of some rat poisons
I am quoting from this article.
Washington (CNN) -- "The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency said Tuesday that it would work to ban the sale of some mouse and rat poisons in a bid to better protect children and pets.
The agency in 2008 gave makers of such poisons until last week to research, develop and register new products that would be safer than those that were then on the market. Many companies complied, but some did not.
Among the targets are such popular rodent poisons as D-Con, Victor and Hot Shot".
My question was, is, and will always be, " What about Coumadin"?
Warfarin ( Coumadin) is the active ingredient in rat poison invented in 1923 to kill Rodents.
I would think that besides an aspirin a day someone could have developed anything safer then Rat Poison?
I, along with many others, found out almost too late that this drug can cause internal bleeding and if not treated quickly, death, in particular, the Indigenous people.
If not for a freak trip to the doctors, I would be dead!

Aquine again

Native American Eastern Woodland's  Traditional  Answer.

After receiving many inquiries about the meaning of the word (Aquine) I placed my people ( the Pequot/Mohegan's ) explanation on my websites.
I am putting our answer on my blogs now because, I see that the question is still being asked, my question is, "why the Traditional American Eastern Woodland people are not also answering this question"?
Just like the word (Aquai), this is a Pequot/Mohegan word  used time and time again by my Elders, now Ancestors.
While growing up on my reservation ( Reservation is a European word for Village), Uncasvillage, there  were never more than 13 families teaching our history, now there are more than 1.000 ? we were taught our language correctly.
Aquine is something like the Algonquin word Aquene,  which means Peace, or I am a friend, I come in peace. When using this word one would have both arms out about heart high with hands palm down to show that you have no weapon.
As we have no word for good-by, we use the same word Aquine, while on our way, this time, with the left hand starting from the heart, palm up and straight out, heart high.
The Pequot/Mohegan word Aquai means hello, when meeting someone in passing, a friendly Aquai as you go by.

Native Americans questions?

Question # 1

Do Native Americans communicate with the coyote?

Although the coyote is found in and around my area it is a part of the beliefs of the people west of the Mississippi river I believe so, please do also ask one of their spiritual leaders. However, the Coyote like our Trickster and the evil powwow person, are all something like the Europeans Devil so, yes we do talk with them.

Question # 2

Is kinnick, kinnick traditional tobacco free?

I have often spoken about our herbs ( Kinnick~Kinnick ) used with everything important like our ceremonies, I will answer this question this way, before it is blessed by Creator you may give, trade, or sell it if you wish, once it has been blessed it is ALWAYS a free gift from Creator!

Question # 3

Native American pay in Sage and Sweet Grass?

Sage and Sweet Grass, like the Coyote are from the western tribal people.

However, to also answer your question to me, my father and grandfather made trips out west for many reasons, on one of these trips they introduced our herbs to many of their Spiritual leaders and some of them introduced Sage and Sweet grass to our people. Do the people out west charge for Sage and/or Sweet Grass? Please ask them, as for my people, my answer is the same as our Kinnick~Kinnick.

Question # 4

Powwow and Paw~paus etiquette vocabulary?

Please go to this blog on teaching.

Question # 5

Pow wow ceremonies info?

Not sure what the person asking this question wants?

If this is for a powwow calendar, they will not be put on these blogs or websites till they are personally check out for authenticity.

Sorry.
