Native American Spiritual Leader rituals

Welcome to the visitor from Fayetteville North Carolina

Looking for information about native American spiritual leader rituals.

To my teaching sites.

sachemspeaks

A Traditional Natives opinions on anything effecting Native and non Native Americans around Mother Earth!

and

A Native American Traditional Teaching Blog.

The reason why it took five pages of not finding what you were looking for to get to one of my sites and still not finding what you are looking for would be the word rituals.

Try removing the word and search or add something like ceremony, culture or teaching instead and try again?

You could just search ritual however, adding it to a Native American site is very confusing, even for your search engine because this word is always associated with the occult and of course we are not an occult?

I am not trying to be funny, I am as always, just trying to help.

Does this information help you with your search?

If not please feel free to write because I am still not sure of just what it is that you are looking for?

Fire-keeper

Welcome to my visitor from Pembroke Canada
To my website and blog looking for fire keepers and smudging.
Smudging the correct way.
Smudging
Smudging
Smudging has just been covered the other day,
Smudging before entering the circle September 28, 2013
However Fire Keeper has not been covered.
Fire Keeper is the reason why I have been holding onto this for a little while and praying about it before answering.
I do that a lot because I want to get it right with my ancestors and Creator before teaching.
We must once again understand that my teachers were from around New York, New England and parts Southeast.
While it is true that my father Shechaim Zeak and my grandfather Shechaim Tallfox had many visitors to our meetings, I have no knowledge of the Canadian natives Fire Keepers and their ceremony, never had the opportunity to witness?
Also, since I am writing on a blog being read by people from all over Indian country, Native American country and the world, I feel that it is necessary to point out that fact.
I have also been to thousands of gatherings around Indian country and have noticed that most gatherings do not have a fire; some have a fire almost as an afterthought and a few have a fire along the lines of our Paw-paus gatherings.
It is this last that I chose to write about.
My people take a fire in or around a circle very personal.
You see, we believe that a correctly placed fire at the correct time is a sign that Kiehtan (Creator) has agreed to a visit with our gathering.
The original powwows before first contact (Paw-paus) the fire was always off to the west side away from distractions with room to do our smudging/prayers.
In those days smudging was with Kinnick – Kinnick Herbs, this is our tobacco.
Never, never, never use any chemical smoking tobacco, never!
Our powwows, not counting today's intertribal where the fire is placed into the center of our circle.
Long before any gathering begins the cleaning and clearing must be done.
After the circle is cleaned and cleared correctly it is time to smudge.
Remember; just as most tribal ancestors from southern areas, and as with our Paw-paus, you start the smudging at the center starting in the east, north, west, south and back to east, step wards toward the east two or three feet until the circle is smudges at the east.
Also remember that this is speaking ‘Intertribal’ because all ‘Sacred Circles are over west of a circle.
Taking the remains of the last fire and mixing it with Kinnick, Kinnick we start the spirit smudging, light the fire in the center of the circle.
Light the mix from the fire in the circle, extremely important, let the fire in the circle go out on its own.
Smudge starting at the east at the fire, smudge around and back to the east, take two steps toward the east opening and smudge around the fire once again back to the east each time getting closer to the east opening and out through your opening.
This way all spirits good and bad will be forced out the opening of your circle.
Good spirits will return with Kiehtan.
Your circle is now ready for the Firekeeper prayers for a blessing from Kiehtan and a visit.

After the fire is started (another posting) the Firekeeper and assistants must keep the fire going for the length of the Paw-paus or powwow.

Prairieville Louisiana

Eastern woodlands ceremonies and beliefs

Welcome to the visitor from Prairieville Louisiana

To a few of my postings at

Looking for information on eastern woodlands ceremonies and beliefs.

Not sure what your interest is about my people however, hope that you were able to find everything that you were looking for?

If not contact us with further questions.

Your native groups are a little below our people and might have different ceremonies within the culture?

The Eastern Woodland Indians inhabited a wide area in the eastern part of the United States that extended eastward from the Mississippi River, through the Great Lakes region, to the Atlantic Ocean.

The inhabitants in this region were forest dwellers living in a vastly wooded area that extended, not only from Lake Superior to the Atlantic Ocean, but south from Canada into the southern states of Kentucky and Virginia.

Shechaim (Sachems) Native Bucket list

Little background before we dive into a bucket, if you please.

It is said that everyone has a bucket list?

Not everyone wants the world to know this list.

I need nothing and want only to please Kiehtan.

Mind you that the ancestors had a hard life, they did not know that they had a hard life, we today know that they did, after all how could anyone go minutes without texting while driving or talking on a cell phone.

They didn’t even drive.

Enough with the joking.

No rich and no poor.

Children learned from the adults, all of the adults.

No crime in the tribe.

They did not have criminals committing dozens of crimes while attorneys and judges keep letting them off with a little slap on the wrist.

They did not even have family members of the criminals picketing the tribe because the law enforcement correctly protected themselves while arresting the criminals.

One only committed a bad crime once!

No , it was not like the European justice, one was sent out of the tribe the same way that they came into the tribe and no other tribe would ever have anything to do with the shunned person!

If Shechaim were to work on a list it would go something like the following.

(1)- Live long enough to see ‘tribal nations’ once again become Tribes throughout Indian country and only run their gathering by natives from around the area of their gatherings.

(2)- Every group or tribe of natives throughout Indian country invite native guests to come enjoy the gathering, only as guest!

Guest members must remember that they are guest of the host tribe and make suggestions only if or when asked to do so, also goes for non natives invited to enjoy the gathering.

(3)- Follow, by website or blog,  groups of Native American Venders around gatherings throughout New England, New York and New Jersey reporting on the acuity of each group putting on the gathering as in staying with the culture and ceremonies of that area, only allow Native American Venders, sorry.

(4)- Become healthy enough once again to spend one complete powwow trail year traveling around New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine and upper New York state, revisiting each tribe, both government recognized and Ancestor recognized.

Shechaim is very interested in observing likenesses and differences of each gathering from past visits and present visits while looking of a future agreement between natives now and the ancestors?

I would also enjoy another trip around Indian country again visiting all tribes.

(5)-  Each Casino Indian Nation to move forward by backing up a little and once again become a Native Tribe from the area that they built the casino in?

In other words kick out the mob, lobbyist, other tribe members, politicians and run the ‘nation’ with only native tribes from the area and then would, care for all of the indigenous peoples around your area?

Once again remember your leaders and that committees should be setup to pay the bills and gather the net profits, distributing equal amount to all of your tribal members, not just the committee as was always done in the past by the ancestors!

Last but by no means least, I would very much like to get back to schools from kindergarten to college with questions and answers from students of all ages with a program that would allow teachers and students time to discuss question before our meeting, also round tabling with teachers, clergy and other native for a better understanding and relationship between the group.

I really do want World Peace!

Stand Down for homeless veterans

The original Stand Down for homeless veterans was modeled after the Stand Down concept used during the Vietnam War to provide a safe retreat for units returning from combat operations.

This event is as it should be nationwide.
