Native Americans’ treatment shameful

This is an interesting letter to say the least.
And

As you will learn by reading the following letter and books on our people,
this
government murdered hundreds of thousands
of
unarmed, defenseless, innocent, old men, women and children
from tribes throughout Indian Country
(The United States of America).
While knowing this,
still no president,
including President Barrack Obama,

will end the

insult to an innocent man
and free Leonard Peltier.

Yes,
someone and no one really knows who,
shot two Federal Agents
after someone,
no one knows who,
fired a shot,
while the Federal Agents
were trespassing
on private land!

Letter to the Editor
Native Americans’ treatment shameful
Posted: July 16, 2016
If the Ten Commandments are something from the Bible that should be taken literally,

I think it is logical to conclude that America has to be disqualified from the
claim of being a Christian nation,

since the commandments against

stealing, murdering, coveting and making false idols

were
heinously violated when the federal, state and local governments

decided to greedily take minerals and precious metals from the Native Americans' lands

without compensation and then brutally expropriated those same lands.

When reading

"Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee,"

I was horrified to learn that when the U.S. Cavalry was tasked
with removing Native Americans from their lands,

abominable methods were used that often approximated those of the Islamic State.

Basically, any and all atrocities imaginable were perpetrated
against defenseless and peaceful women, children, babies and old people.

Furthermore, and perhaps more importantly,

what reinforces this notion that the U.S. cannot be thought of as a Christian nation
is that the mistreatment of Native Americans is being perpetuated to this day,

with the continued existence of reservations where living conditions are tragically inhumane,

with unemployment rates reaching 80 percent,

where alcoholism and drug abuse are rampant

and

where hopelessness results in teenage suicide rates up to 10 times the national average.
It has been said that the measure of a society
is how it cares for the least of those in that society.

It is a sad state of affairs when non-profit organizations like Remote Area Medical

are needed to provide the services
that impoverished people are entitled to by virtue
not only of the principle of common human decency

but by being the citizens of the wealthiest nation on the planet.

I think it is high time this country atoned for its misdeeds in any and every way possible.

Robert A. Christiansen, Knoxville

One Comment Allan Webb on Sunday

And no dramatic measures have even been considered in addressing the problems that OUR indigenous people have.

I don't have a solution but we owe it to them.

The politicians ignore them except for helping them get casinos on reservations.

They probably got a kick-back from the gambling lobby as a donation to the benefit of the members of the two houses of Congress.
P.S.
Walkingfox,
might not be the sharpest tack in the package,
but I for one have the answer
(Solution)!

How to "Make America Great Again!"

How to "Make America Great Again!"
By
keeping on making America Great!
We already have a good start with,
Melania Trump's Republican Convention Speech.

By following what has been working for the past 8 years
under President Barrack Obama.
Only without the

"Do Nothing Congress!"

Melania Trump Republican Convention Speech
Bears Striking Similarities to Michelle Obama Address

By NBC News
Published 07/19 2016 04:11AM

A chunk of Melania Trump's Republican National Convention speech appears to have been lifted from Michelle Obama's address at the 2008 Democratic convention.

Trump said on the TODAY Show that she wrote the speech largely on her own,
 telling host Matt Lauer that:
"I read once over it, and that's all.
Because I wrote it…with as little help as possible."

Her emotional address to GOP delegates on Monday night sought to show her husband's softer side, a star turn that quickly drew glowing praise.

Then a journalist pointed out the striking similarities —
almost word for word at points —
to the first lady's speech from 2008,
and
a plagiarism controversy exploded.

Plagiarism questions, arise
after
 Melania Trump's
Republican National Convention speech.

Native Blood? This can happen to you next!

Take a look at what is happening
to the real Native Americans
throughout Indian country.

Remember.

This did not happen back when
the east had
Shechaim's, Clan-Mothers and an Elders Counsel.

and

The west, north and south had Chiefs and Elder Counsel.

Royal Families!

It has been happening all over New England for over 20 years with no one seeming to care.
Will, now it is the turn of Casino Indians!

The St. Croix Chippewa maintain a blood quantum requirement of 50 percent.

It is one of fewer than 10 of 562 federally recognized tribes in the United States to retain such a stringent standard.

Banished from the tribe

Tony Ammann
is the grandson of former longtime
St. Croix Chippewa chief and traditional
“midewiwin”
spiritual leader Archie Mosay.
His mother, Archie’s daughter,

has Department of Interior papers certifying her blood quantum requirement
to be a member of the tribe.

Despite Ammann’s lineage and heritage,
the St. Croix Chippewa Tribal Council is actively seeking to banish him from the tribe.

Ammann says the attempt at disenrollment is an old vendetta that
underlines the need for reform and
greater accountability within tribal governance.

“People have been corrupted by all of this casino money,”
Tony Ammann said.
“It’s vindictiveness. It’s greed. It’s an abuse of authority.
We need to put a stop to this system where decisions are being made in secret.”

“They’ve taken this idea of sovereignty to mean they can do whatever they want with no accountability,”
Dora Ammann said.

“Let’s run our government by the rules and not personal vendettas.
I have nothing against these people.
I try not to judge them.
But when they start to become mean it becomes worse than a bully on the playground.”

A human and civil rights issue The issue of tribal disenrollment has become a national human and civil rights issue.
It is estimated that
70 tribes in the United States have banished as many as 8,000 members from tribal rolls.

Tribal elders receive per capita payments of approximately $10,000 per year - other members approximately $4,800 per year. Banishment would mean losing that payment and all hunting and fishing rights.

Photos of Uncas (UNKAS)

Welcome Lviv Lvivska Oblast Ukraine
Sorry but there are no know pictures (photos) of Unkas (Uncas).
In fact no real known photos of our people, the Eastern Woodland Native Americans around the New England Area at the time of the life of, Shechaim Ohjieshan Unkas.
The first leader of my people.
The Moiigans (Maïngan – Yáw – Wolf-People).
Sachem Uncas (Shechaim Ohjieshan Unkas), 1588 -1683.

The closest to this I am willing to show you is a group of our people,
(over looked by this government),
and very real to any Eastern Woodland Native Americans

around the New England Area.
Could be a tribe of my relations.
Many artists draw what they believe to be,

what he looked like by comparing him to other tribes.
Remember a few points;
there were still plenty of trees and many bushes and briers around the area,

not as much as at first contact but a lot.
Therefore, the hair could not look like the plains and western Indians.
Running after food (game) or from enemies, or after an enemy,
should not be slowed because of tangled hair.
Our first Shechaim (Sachem), had many enemies, people wanting to be the leader of his people.
New England has four seasons and our people dressed accordingly.
Furs and skins in the winter.
Skins in the spring and fall.
Very little in the summers.
Shechaim Ohjieshan Unkas Head Clan mother
was Manoma (Martha) His wife.

Shechaim Ohjieshan Unkas-War Chief Cauchegan.
Yours truly on the way up on our prayer

Native Americans in the area did not wear a 'war bonnett'
they wear a Roach Hairpiece made from porcupine.
In 1626 and still a Pequot  his father Shechaim Owaneco arranged a marriage to the Pequot War-chief, Tatobem (Sassacus).
Hope that this answers your questions.
