Before retirement
our family traveled the New England area and when asked to we would teach at
schools about our people.
The first thing that
a family member would say when it was our turn to speak after a prayer.
A prayer to Creator
for a blessing for our gathering that day.
Please do not take
one person as the only way that our people held our ceremonies and our culture
get at least a second opinion.
We never wore our
regalia while teaching for two main reasons.
Our Regalia are not
costumes;
they are what our ancestors used to keep safe from the weather,
insects, branches and animals and so on, Clowns wear costumes,
only
‘non Native
Americans’
wear regalia for show!
2nd
It was a great way
to get curious students to start asking questions.
And
It was easier to
pass our ancestors tools and regalia around the gathering while speaking
Why do I keep writing about Florida?
I was
perfectly happy showing Donna all around
‘New England and New York’.
She
was perfectly happy showing me
‘West of the Mississippi river’.
Until
one day, we got a call from relatives.
Her
dad, a Korean/Vietnam veteran was in the V.A. in Florida.
Her
mom was in a hospital in Florida and knowing their love for each other, we
moved.
We did
not know that we were moving from an area of the country
controlled by its
citizens (California/Connecticut).
To a
state controlled by whatever ‘special interest group’ willing to spend the most
money electing their politicians!
In
Connecticut/California for instance,
citizens vote for their choice to serve
the state.
In
Florida,
the voting public is
badgered and bruised
with
absurd boldface lies,
half-truths and insane statements 24/7
from election to election to election;
this had been going on for over 20 years!
I and
a number of other Floridians
are doing our part
at picking apart those,
‘absurd
boldface lies, half-truths and insane statements’
with
the ‘Proof of the
‘Truth’
Lately
we have been getting help from the Florida Media
however;
even they cannot
compete
with the loose money fighting the truth!
