The ‘Blood Quantum’ Question, Part One

Our ancestors, '
the ones that had no  help crossing them (Their path to Creator), are rolling over in their graves because of your lack of concern from them and their descendants!

For centuries, treaties have defined the relationship between many Native American nations and the U.S. More than 370 ratified treaties have helped the U.S. expand its territory and led to many broken promises made to American Indians.

A rare exhibit of such treaties at the Smithsonian's National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, D.C., looks back at this history. It currently features one of the first compacts between the U.S. and Native American nations – the Treaty of Canandaigua.

The ‘Blood Quantum’ Question, Part One
‘Blood Quantum’
This is something that has jerked my chain since the early 1980’s!

Soon after the Casino Indians were created by your government!

What is it that gives this government the right to play GOD?

About a God Given Right from (Creator), to be able to tell the people of this country and only this country what nationality each person is allowed to call themselves
and
the citizens of this country allow it to go on?

I told the government back then and a thousand times since,

“Bite Me!”

A person in Mexico is called Mexican, A person born in Canada is called Canadian, A person born in England, France, Poland, Ireland, Spain, and Russia and so on, and this is true.

So, what happened to our people that have changes?

It is called the hundreds of thousands of broken treaties that’s what happened.

This government takes and never gives to the 'first people of this land'!

EDITORIAL: The ‘Blood Quantum’ Question, Part One

A short quote from that complicated and controversial piece of federal legislation:

‘Native’ means a citizen of the United States who is a person of one-fourth degree or more Alaska Indian… Eskimo, or Aleut blood, or combination thereof.

The term includes any Native as so defined either or both of whose adoptive parents are not Natives.

It also includes, in the absence of proof of a minimum blood quantum, any citizen of the United States who is regarded as an Alaska Native by the Native village or Native group of which he claims to be a member and whose father or mother is (or, if deceased, was) regarded as Native by any village or group.”

As far as I know, I have no ancestors who could be described as American Indians.

Certainly, my parents and grandparents have never claimed such a heritage.

So my children, born to a “certified” American Indian mother

(as defined by the U.S. government) —

are not themselves “certified” American Indians, since they have less than a 1/4 blood quantum

Bill Hudson founded the Pagosa Daily Post in 2004 in hopes of making a decent living writing about local politics. The hope remains.

A familiar scene plays out at the Southern border

Remember the words of the "White Supremes, Mitchell McConnell Jr"  Senate Leader?

Dec 08, 2010 · Republican Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell sums it up. ... Mitch McConnell: Top Priority, Make Obama a One Term President

Donald Trump wins support from Native American coalition has announced their support for Mr. Trump. A newly formed Native American Coalition is made up of members who hail from tribal organizations in 15 states and include both grass-roots leaders and elected officials.

“The daily flood of new federal regulations keep Indian Country from becoming self-sufficient.

Local tribal decisions, not federal bureaucrats, are the best way to improve our communities.

As both an enrolled member of Cherokee Nation and a member of Congress, I will stand with Donald Trump in supporting tribal sovereignty and reining in federal over-regulation,”

said
Rep. Markwayne Mullin, Oklahoma Republican and chairman of the group.

It was congress, not President Obama or Hillary Clinton, that was flooding our land, both Indian country and Native American country, with  new federal regulations!

Remember the words of the "White Supremes' Mitchell McConnell Jr" ?

“When I first came into office, the head of the Senate Republicans said, ‘my number one priority is making sure president Obamas a one-term president.’ Now, after the election, either he will have succeeded in that goal or he will have failed at that goal.” President Obama

The 2016 election was sicken and an embarrassment to our Native Ancestors
because of so many of our youngsters voting against the better person!

Not sure if it was because she in a woman, a Democrat, or did not visit enough to every tribe, ‘nation,’ in every state, to suit them or what the problem was?

Now my brothers and sisters that did not vote for her are crying foul?

To be clear, Native American families and Alaska Native mothers and fathers, and grandfathers and grandmothers, have had their share of children and grandchildren being separated from them for decades and some for generations.

That hasn’t stopped entirely, even with the advent of the national Indian Child Welfare Act, enacted in 1978. Congress, after four years of research and testimony, said it is against federal and state law to allow social workers and state courts to remove Native children “in order to alleviate a terrible crisis of national proportions – the wholesale separation of Indian children from their families.”

Now, Central and South American mothers and fathers today face the same evils at the southern border. President Donald Trump has repeatedly said America will not be “infested” with “these people,” and that millions and millions of them will ‘invade’ America. Those are the words he used.

New York /Ohio I remember!

Not the New York that I remember from my youth, this is the Ohio that I remember!

This is your country?

The country I wasted six (6) years of my life protecting?
This however, is not the New York that I remember from my youth!

At least a baker’s dozen of my elders (Chiefs and Clan Mother Teachers), came from my neighboring state.

This is your president’s country the one that is full of hate!

Man sucker-punched in street; people walking by go through his pockets

New York City police say a man was lying unconscious in the street after being punched when other people came by and stole from him.

Surveillance video aired by WCBS shows the victim being approached by two men in a Bronx intersection on June 18.

One of the men hit him, knocking him down.

After the two men left, several others started going through the victim’s pockets, stealing his phone and other items.

Police say the man who threw the punch then returned and took pictures of the motionless victim.

The punching victim was taken to a hospital in critical condition with a fractured skull.

Police called on Ohio boy mowing grass; now his business is booming

Jun 29, 2018
CLEVELAND

An Ohio boy is running his own business this summer cutting lawns and cleaning up yards.

Reginald Fields, 12, is the owner of Mr. Reggie's Lawn Cutting Service. With several helping hands from his cousins, brothers and sisters, they are up with the sun every day working the neighborhood.

That's what they were doing when someone called police on them.

"They said I was cutting their grass. I didn't know it," Reggie told News 5 Cleveland.

His customer, Lucille Holt, said she was confused when she saw police, but quickly learned the neighbors called to complain that the group cut a section of their property (about a foot where the two properties join together) and were in their yard.

"They said the kids cut their grass," Holt explained.

Reggie Fields said the police said nothing to him and the other kids. He finished the job and felt a little discouraged.

"I was like, that's a shame. I didn't know," Reggie said.

But that didn't last long.

Lucille Holt created a Face book post about what happened and ended up with thousands of views and hundreds of shares.

"I guess I have a line where part of it is now my yard. They called the police to tell the police that the kids were cutting their grass," Holt said in the video.

Now, Mr. Reggie is getting a lot of support for his new business from people who see the video and want to make sure he's never discouraged again.

"People are in boxing me like, 'how can I get in touch with these children? Where are they at? I got property I want these kids to cut,'" Holt said.

Reggie, his siblings and his cousins are getting calls from all over the city now.

Reggie said he's trying to save the money he earns to buy new equipment and grow his business.

"Just give me a call. I will be there. On time!" he said.

As for the neighbors who called police, they called News 5 to say they saw the Face book video, but didn't want to go on camera.
