If you cross this line it means WAR!

Time to draw that line!
It is so far past the time for the many to draw a line in the sand to the few and say NO MORE!
If you cross this line it means WAR!
For those of you that know me, know that I am a Traditional Native American and I will always be a Traditional Native American, the only religion that I preach is OBEY your CREATOR!
However, this also includes calling out the Trickster for what he is, a small, sneaky, coward that must do his dirty work behind your back by misusing the law!
Church Cancels ‘Charlie Brown’ Over Atheist Outrage
Creator (your God) was around long before Santa Clause, this government and its laws.
Creator was also around long before any slimy atheist ever walked on two legs!
I joined the service to fight for your freedom, this freedom also includes your right to worship your Supreme Being when and where you wish to in this your country, if the Atheist do not wish to see you using your freedom, they need to pack their bags, I will protect their right to get out of this our country!
So what’s next? No more Sweat lodge, Sundance, Ghost dance or Paw paus?

Whatever happened to the rest of the Mohegan Clans?

The Wolf People?
I was handed this book back in early 2010 about my people; the person wanted me to read all about the Mohiigan's?
Ever since the day that the 'government and the government casino's' bought the Indians (Native Americans of New England).
I keep getting books from people asking me to read and give them my opinion.
After spending a lifetime as one of the original people I was sure by now that I was at least a little familiar with them however, she was an elder so I took the book with a promise to read it, someday.
Someday just came because I had an eye doctor's appointment at the VA.
Any veteran will tell you that one had better bring something to do and hope that your eyes are ok for reading.
Whatever happened to all of the rest of the Mohiigan  Clans?
I am telling you now that, like with my feelings about hunters, I am writing today just to give off a little steam, then I will click delete!
I am guessing that the book was written just after the casinos opened, because the author was nowhere around while I was in 'Uncasvillage' or New England for that matter.
About the only thing good coming from this book as far as I can see is, now I know what happened to all of the information that use to be in the libraries around the area, and why no one has been able to find out anything about our people, except written after the early 1990's!
No!
Even though I usually make it a point to give a reference to my postings, I have no plans to give you the name of this book, because you might be tempted to go waste your money on the thing.
I found that everything in this book, as with most other books about my people, was stolen from another source, or is a fabrication of the truth (half-truth)!
First thing we must note is that very few of the people in these book were around Uncasvillage in the 30's, 40's,50's 60's 70's and 80's so why are they called Mohiigan's ?
The next would be why is it that only men in the book are called chief?
Why are none of the women called chief?
Why did this book allow you to believe that the English could dictate who should be our Shechaim?
What does this book mean when it said that the Sachemship? (Shechaim royal family)
Ended?
Did someone kill us all?
No wonder I have such horrible writing habits,
I'm dead!
As explained in an earlier posting, like many other cultures, the royal family went underground and kept the royal line intact through the 'Trace, Fielding, Storey line'!
Remember that a (chief) in an Eastern Woodland American Traditional Tribe is appointed by the 'Head Clan Mother' with the blessings of the
Shechaim Ohjieshan, 'this chief' is a person with a job 'authorized by the Head Clan Mother' and that person (man or woman ) is only chief until that job is finished.
The next job may need to use another person better qualified as that jobs 'leader or chief'.
If this chief needs assistants with the workload, he may, with the permission of the Head Clan Mother Assign help (a Sagamore).
So one would rightfully conclude that all of the chiefs in this book and any other book on Eastern Woodland Native Americans are just workers for the people assigned by their Head Clan Mother through the Shechaim Ohjieshan.
The book does go on talking about some of the people that they now call chiefs however, once again, only a few of those name were of the remaining 13 families living on Mohiigan/Pequot land, not one was still a chief at the time of crossing!
Selling a book?
Remember Creator is watching!

The Story of the Teardrop

The Pequot/Mohegan Dream Catcher
By now everyone knows a story about the Native American Dream catchers?
So let's get into how to make one?
As with everything else we talk about on this blogger this is only how they were made by my ancestors and why we make them a little different then the pretty store bought ones of today!
No one nowadays makes a Traditional Eastern Woodland New England dream catcher for sale, why? Because they are not the pretty ones that come from outside this country and sold as native!
A traditional dream catcher (Tear Drop) was not made from medal and/or plastic, we use a branch of a Willow tree or grape vine and sometimes both, tied together with Sinew.
However, if you did not read the story here goes again.
The Story of the Teardrop

"This story was told to me as a small child, first by my Grandfather and then again later by my father."
Long ago, when the Mohegan people all lived in the same village, the men spent most of their time away, either hunting or at war with the Tribes of the North.
The women ran the village.
They tended their gardens and cared for all of the Tribes clothing.
This would often leave the Elders and the very young, whom they cared for, alone in the village for long periods of time.
The Trickster or evil one, knowing this, would come into the village at night and frighten the children, so that they couldn't sleep.
The Mohegan people knew that neither the Elders nor the children, could do anything about the Trickster on their own, so they contacted the Little People on their behalf.
(The Mohegan people believed that the Little People were their protectors who lived in a sub-world between the spirit world and the Mohegan world.
The Mohegan People would go to them with their prayer requests and the Little People would then take these requests to the Creator.)
The men of the village made offerings or gifts for the Little People of strong tobacco skin pouches, while the women made food baskets.
The children made their own special gifts.
On a chosen night, the Mohegan People would take their gifts to the edge of the forest.
Just before sunset, the Mohegan's would offer prayers and songs to the Creator, who would send the Little People to them.
They would then leave their gifts for Little People and go back to their village.
Every night for a week, the Mohegan People would return to the edge of the forest to see if the Little People had taken their gifts.
One night, one of the Little People was waiting for them and all of the gifts were gone.
After the prayers and songs were finished, everyone sat down to discuss why the gifts had been left.
Learning what the Trickster had been doing, the Little Person said that she would go back to her people and return later with their answer.
A few days later, the Little People asked for a meeting with the Mohegan Tribal council.
The Little People told the Tribal council that they would need help from the Spider Woman.
So, they talked to the Spider Woman and she agreed to meet with the council.
After the Tribal council explained what the Trickster was doing to the Elders and the young, the Spider Woman took some grapevine and spun it into a teardrop shaped web.
The teardrops represented the children's tears.
She gave one teardrop to the head of each Mohegan family and told them to put the teardrop over the child's bed, as close to an opening as possible.
As the child dreamed, the Trickster tried to send forth bad dreams.
Now, the bad dreams would get stuck on the spider web, and the good dreams would pass on through and down to the child.
In the morning when the sun would come up, the heat from the sun would erase all of the bad dreams, making the teardrop clean again until the next night.
From that day on, the Mohegan children dreamed good dreams and the Mohegan village was again at peace.

Head Veteran

What is a head veteran and what does he/she do at gatherings?
First a head veteran must be a veteran, Duh!
I have been to some 'powwows' of late and one way or another found out that a head veteran was, in fact, never a veteran!
Next he/she must be a native American, there are many way to see if one is a native and a few ways to see if he/she is a veteran.
So no need to go into this, if you have been reading my past postings and many of you have, than you know my feelings about that.
To completely understand where I am coming from with sacred ceremonies like our gatherings and also see why the responsibility of a head veteran is now, but never should have been diminished, let's start with paw-paus and head veteran?
A paw- paus as with all gatherings before first contact was assigned by the Sachem through the Head Clan Mother to take full control of the event.
Like the Powwow's of today, those gatherings were started at a monthly meeting long before the event, so everyone in the tribe knew in advance what their job was.
The Sachem or Head Clan Mother assigned the Head Veterans job to the warrior with the most knowledge of the tribe to run the Paw-paus.
This person became the Chief of the gathering, so for a smooth outing everyone worked under this warrior, everyone except the Head Clan Mother!
As Sachem and many times a head veteran, I worked under the Head Clan Mother at our paw paus, less confusion from everybody!
With our people if this warrior (Head Veteran) said that you are a Native American, you are a native American!
Not only is this right, old warriors have a way with knowing just who is and who is not!
The MC with permission from the Head Clan Mother, controlled the singing, dancing and what dance at what time.
The lead drum controlled songs and which drum group drums which dance.
The Head Veteran controls everything else!
How on earth did the word 'arena director' get into a powwow?
Arena directors run rodeos, Fairs, circus, and carnivals out west someplace don't they?
East entry started after this head veteran checked that everything and everyone is ready to dance, gave the signal to the MC and unless carrying the Sacred Staff, stayed at the ready at the gate.
At a paw-paus, any bird or animal was always allowed into the circle as long as they wished to be in the circle, never tied or chained as with powwow.
If you are dancing in this type of circle and see a feather drop or spot a feather and are positive that it is only a costume feather, pick it up and carry it out of the circle with you, hand it to the head veteran, if you are not sure, protect that feather, no veteran worth his or her salt will think less of you one way or the other.
I was at a 'powwow' not so long ago and a native girl about 12ish, saw three Eagle feathers drop from an Alaskan dancers regalia, she danced over the feathers until a 'dancer' from a Canadian tribe can along picked up the feathers walked backwards through the circle and handed them to the Alaskan!
This is what our gatherings are coming to !
After things calmed down and out of sight I walked both 'men' out of the gathering!
I found the young girl and family, through a ceremony and with a blessing for Creator, handed her a prayer pouch with some of my grandfathers tobacco (Kinnick Kinnick) in it and made sure that she knew that she was 100% correct!

Sachems Pie

This is an update from the old tried and true Sheppard's pie from days gone by, called poor man's meal.
I started this recipe because the person I live with is a Simi veggie, I on the other hand I was a carnivore!
She eats some meat if! If I can cook it just right, God I love a challenge!
For the meat, which of course is the most important part of the meal, shop any place except Wal Mart ( fatty, gristle pink slime), hopefully a place that does not use Pink Slime, I use Publix supermarket.
Pick the meat that you like best, a good meat manage can help the newbie however, we do not need fat or gristle if possible, we also do not want hamburger meat. Look the meat manager in the eyes and point blank as if that store uses pink slime!
I know about the controversy with pink slime, I also personally know what is in this meat and why companies put it in!!!!!!
Use it if you wish?
Also I know that some fat and gristle is said to be good while cooking, not in my pie.
I buy a day or so before the cooking because I find that it cuts better when a little frozen rather than soft!
Herbs
Ground Turmeric ( good tasting, good for you) 1-teaspoon
Ground Cilantro leaves 1-teaspoon
Creole seasoning 1 teaspoon
Onion Powder 1-teaspoon
Garlic Powder 1-teaspoon
Salt Free all purpose seasoning 1/2 teaspoon
No need to oil the frying pan however, meat has fluid in it, a few drops if you wish, season your meat with the standard herbs.
Sprinkle the top of your meat while in the frying pan with your herbs using half of my recommended amount, use the rest after turning over the meat.
The most important herb for me is Ground Turmeric, healthy!
After you flip the meat over, in about 5 minutes and use the rest of the herbs you should cut the meat into a million pieces, will ok not a million.
Cook the meat on a low heat covering the pan.
While cooking the meat, peel you potato's, for the two of us I wash, peel and 1/4 cut about 6 large potato's.
Choose your favorite vegetables, I find that uncut green beans, whole corn and peas with a shredded carrot on the top of potato's after job is completed works for me.
Fresh if possible, frozen is ok.
NEVER use canned anything, canned products create poison.
The food in cans absorb chemicals from the cans so they coat the inside of the can with a chemical? Poison!
Allow the meal to cook the vegetables, never cook them before hand and lose vitamins!

OK about now you must be saying "never write a recipe again EVER"!
Sorry, but if you are following my blogger you know that I am no writer!
However, like Chef Bob, I do love to cook!
OK let's get to the Mashed potatoes?
I have this 26 year old Hamilton Beach hand mixer that unknown to me was recalled shortly after I bought it?
The only repair that I had to do to it was replace the cord, not going to talk about this accident?
:-(
The navy cooks and many of my elders told me say " never use high speed while mixing mash potato's ?
So of course, with a few table spoons of real butter and 1 1/2 cubs of 2% milk I using high speed to mash my potatoes.
If by now the meat is will done because you have been watching and staring all of this time, it goes into a oven safe pan, the veggies cover the meat and your fluffy potato's cover them both!
Sprinkle your graded carrot's over the potatoes, two table spoons of parmesan cheese and two table spoons of Italian bread crumbs while the oven is catching up to 350 degrees and into the over for 35 minutes, you are done. Bon appétit?
