The Feast of Lupercalia/Valentine

Don’t mean to be a spoilsport, But.

Just because a man (Pope), covers this day with another holiday does not stop follower celebrating their real holiday.

As a Spiritual Teacher and follower of Creator my lord, this day is just another day.

Because females deserve all of their 'Special days possible', a few days before and a few days after, makes two safe holidays?

What is the Feast of Lupercalia?

Historians trace the origin of Valentine's Day to ancient Roman Empire.

It is said that in the Rome of ancient times people observed a holiday on
February 14th to honor Juno - the Queen of Roman Gods and Goddesses.

The Romans also regarded Juno as the Goddess of Women and Marriage.

On the following day, February 15th began the fertility festival called 'Feast of Lupercalia'.

The festival of Lupercalia was celebrated to honor the Gods Lupercus and Faunus - the Roman God of Agriculture besides the legendary founders of Rome, Romulus and Remus.

An interesting custom was followed in the Feast of Lupercalia to bring together young boys and girls who otherwise were strictly separated.

On the eve of the festival names of young Roman girls were written on a slip of paper and placed into jars.

Each young man drew out a girl's name from the jar and was paired with the girl for the duration of Lupercalia.

Sometime pairing lasted for a year until next year's celebration.

Quite often, the couple would fall in love with each other and later marry.

The custom lasted for a long time until people felt that the custom was un-Christian and that mates should be chosen by sight, not luck.

Tribal sovereignty in the United States

Welcome to our neighbor north of the border
Edmonton, Alberta, Canada
To a very important posting about all of Indian/Native American country, people south of the North Pole and north of the South Pole.
At

Tribal sovereignty in the United States
Yes, I did repeat myself;
 one tends to do so
when victims do not hear?
Just because I was answering a question from someone in this country
does not mean that it also might apply to this entire hemisphere.
Please remember that
this entire hemisphere is the land of our ancestors.
Questions and/or Comments
are always welcome?
My question to you?
When will your government ‘Build a Wall' to keep out our
‘Swamp, Cesspool inhabitants’?

If you are of a ‘Traditional tribe’ in or around the New York, New England, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware and parts of Northeast Canada, you know that our people become protectors and teachers of the ancestors, culture and ceremonies from birth to death.
If you are older you should be teaching and protection any tribal member younger than you.
The end of this month I will have been an elder for yet another year
 (78).
For almost all of these years I have been learning and teaching, exception 6 years in the military.
When I tell you that in the above mentioned states there are ‘Hundreds of Thousands’ of our people
that this government and its government Indians faulty claim that each are not recognized people.
This is called (Assimilation by your government and it is wrong)!

Welcome to our neighboring state of New York

Welcome to our visitor from our neighboring state of New York about one of our postings about a few of our trips around ‘Native America.’
This one to New Jersey at a gathering (powwow).
Before going into this post, how about we take another trip back in time by remembering the teaching of my elders (as with all elders), about our ancestors, culture and ceremonies?
Remember, my teachers (Elders), were all of the elders at our meetings, Paw-pause and gathering, in and around Native American country.
And a few times also from Indian country.
So
Let’s go back to 'Shechaim Unkas' and before?
Before the French and English incursion of both 'Indian and Native American country', Chief in tribes in Indian country ruled and Shechaim's ruled the land east of the Mississippi river.

The Ramapough and decolonization - Anthony Van Dunk
Shawnee Elder Tah (Donna) and I met 'Shechaim Chief, Anthony Van Dunk' a number of times at his gatherings.
The Ramapough Lenape Indians are an East coast people, or were at that time?
In other words, a Matriarch Tribe.
How can a tribe, a traditional tribe, vote out a Sachem (Shechaim), their leader of the tribe?
You can vote out a president, senator, congressman or woman, mayor and governor of this country.
However, a traditional tribe is none of the above!

Touching police moment in Gainesville Florida

Touching moment three young men help an 89-year-old woman
and
100-year-old husband into their car is recorded by a cop struck by their kindness
Officer Kanesha Carnegie spotted Joc Koe Stoe, Marty and Freddy G aiding Rose Griest, 89, and her husband David, 100, at a Williston, Florida gas station
Carnegie recorded as the three young men gently helped an exhausted Rose climb into the front passenger seat.
Why is this 100 year old man still driving?
Shouldn’t the police be finding out and trying to help?
However;
What is missing from all of those news media clips
is the fact that the police know the youth
(all three are black),
 and
they know that they are good young adults!
The three local rappers, known to Carnegie, had seen the elderly couple struggling from the gas station window and immediately went out to help
Officer Carnegie says she recorded the touching moment viewed more than 4.9million times to show just who those men 'really are'
Three young men are being praised for coming to the aid of a 100-year-old man who was having trouble helping his exhausted wife into her car seat.
The good deed was caught on camera thanks to Officer Kanesha Carnegie of the Levy County Sheriff’s Office in Bronson, Florida.
The policewoman had been in a gas station parking in Williston when she saw 89-year-old Rose Griest struggling to get back into her car.
She and her husband of 20 years had reportedly stopped on their way to a medical appointment in order for Griest to use the gas station bathroom. Upon returning to the car, however, Griest was so exhausted from the trip she could barely stand.
