The National Veterans Wheelchair Games is co-presented between the Department of Veterans Affairs and Paralyzed Veterans of America. The Games serve Veterans with Spinal Cord Injury, Multiple Sclerosis, Amputations and other central neurological impairments with the goal to increase their independence, healthy activity and quality of life through wheelchair sports and recreation. Veterans are being exposed to wheelchair sports at their home VAMC or PVA Chapters as part of their rehabilitation to improve function, independence and getting them active in their home communities in sport and fitness.
We are preparing to celebrate our 38th year in Orlando, Florida, July 30 – Aug 4, 2018. The Games move from city to city annually to take advantage of the opportunities that educate Veterans on accessibility, travel, adaptation, etc. Additionally, moving the event annually helps introduce the program to new Veterans, sponsors and partners for the VA and PVA. Over the years we have seen the benefit of these relationships that strengthen opportunities for Veteran services but also for the greater disabled community in that area for years afterward.

Tribes Unite Across U.S. and Canada to Oppose Keystone XL in Declaration
It is intended as a message to President Donald Trump and may be sent to the United Nations.

MAY 17, 2017

Today (May 17), tribal leaders are gathering in Calgary, Alberta to sign a 16-page declaration against the Keystone XL Pipeline.

From the United States are the Great Sioux Nation and Ponca tribes and from Canada, the Blackfoot Confederacy. They will sign the “Declaration Opposing Oil Sand Expansion and the Construction of the Keystone XL Pipeline” as a message to President Donald Trump, reports Native News Online.

"There is a historic union between first Americans in Canada and Native Americans in the United States," said Casey Camp-Horinek, a councilwoman with the Ponca tribe in Oklahoma, to The Associated Press. "Long before a border ever existed on a map, a fictitious line on a map, we were a united peoples in our approach to care of Mother Earth."

Pipeline opponents seemingly won the battle against the 1,179 mile-long pipeline in 2015 when former President Barack Obama rejected developer TransCanada’s permit application. However, Trump entered the White House January 20
and
signed a presidential memorandum to repeal that just four days later.

With this declaration, indigenous people across North America want Trump to know why this pipeline is destructive to their culture, safety and history. The preamble reads, per Native News:

“We, The First People, were and remain the stewards of the land and with this Declaration renew our vow to carry that sacred obligation in defense of our Mother, the Earth, and all born of her body and nurtured at her breast who are no longer heard amidst the dissonance of industrialization and corporate domination.”

One of the declaration’s strongest demands revolves around treaty rights. Tribal leaders want consultation processes to change and require consent. Currently, companies such as TransCanada may include a Native American Relations Policy or Aboriginal Relations Policy (both of which TransCanada has), but a tribe’s rejection doesn’t factor in significantly. Tribal members might send this declaration to the United Nations, the AP reports.

Currently, the $8 billion pipeline is not guaranteed to happen. Groups have sued the federal government for the permit it issued TransCanada. In Nebraska, the project has still not been approved. Opponents have been preparing to build camps—similar to what was seen in North Dakota against the Dakota Access Pipeline—along the proposed pipeline route.

New London

In large red, blue and black capital letters on white poster board, Maggie Costello spelled out one of the messages she hopes to convey at the Women’s March on Washington, D.C., next Saturday: “UNITE THE STATES OF AMERICA.”

“We want the new establishment to know how we feel about Donald Trump’s treatment of women and minorities, and that we want justice and human rights to be protected,” the Mystic resident said, as she and about 20 others used bold-colored paints and magic markers to create posters they will carry at the event, organized for the day after inauguration day by groups concerned about the president-elect’s agenda. “We’re just doing our small part.”

Across the table, her friend Michelle Bohmbach of East Lyme worked on a sign that read “And Justice for All.” A $50 donation from William Kane of Quaker Hill paid for the poster board, paints and markers.

“We want to send a positive message,” Bohmbach said.

The Saturday afternoon of poster making took place in the basement of Hot Rod Café, where owner Rod Cornish was doing some final tallying for a bus he had organized for the march.

Marchers coming from across the country will be arriving on more than 1,200 charter buses, joining thousands more coming by car, air and train to the nation's capital for what could be the largest ever post-inauguration demonstration, according to organizers. Cornish, Costello, Bohmbach and more than 100 others will be traveling to the nation’s capital on two buses leaving from New London, while other southeastern Connecticut groups will be traveling on buses from Waterford and Norwich.

Bohmbach said several of her friends who can’t attend the Washington, D.C., event are planning to attend sister marches the same day in Hartford and Boston. More than 250 other sister marches are planned worldwide.

“We want to celebrate diversity, and we want to be taken seriously,” she said.

Like some others in the group, this would be Costello and Bohmbach’s first time participating in a political demonstration. But even those with past experience aren’t regulars at these kinds of events.

“The last time I did this was against the war in Vietnam,” said Charlotte Schroeder of New London, who will be traveling on the bus leaving from the downtown sports bar and restaurant. “I’m doing this for my grandchildren, and for my mother, who was a real champion of women’s rights, and for my aunt, who’s 97. I’m very concerned about the Affordable Care Act, even though I have Medicare. I’m concerned for my family and other people, and I’m really afraid about Roe v. Wade,” the Supreme Court ruling that established abortion rights.

Stonington resident Judith Hanratty, 69, will be going to the march with her daughter Kara Mignosa and 13-year-old granddaughter Quinn Mignosa, both of Noank.

Locals among thousands heading to D.C. for Women’s March

“I knew I had to do something,” she said. “I marched for women’s rights in the '80s, but I never thought I’d be doing this again.”

Nicole McDonald, a 16-year-old from Montville, also will be part of a multi-generational family group attending the march. Crafting a sign that said “MAKE AMERICA THINK AGAIN,” a play on the president-elect’s campaign slogan, she explained why she wants to be part of the march.

“I want to celebrate women’s rights and diversity,” she said. “The president-elect doesn’t stand up for that, so we have to take a stand against him.”

The Roman Catholic Religion

If the Pope truly believes that the Canonizing is the right thing to do, why not do this in one of the Missions in California?
Why Washington?

The Roman Catholic Religion
Déjà vu///Karma
If the Spiritual leader of the largest Spiritual beliefs in the world can keep (ignoring)

one of the now smallest Spiritual beliefs in the world)

Native Americans.

Shouldn't it be OK to ask a few questions about his Spiritual beliefs?

Let's start with,

What if I invited all of my faithful followers and all of the 'native' followers in Rome to meet me in Vatican City
for a Native American Adoption Ceremony in the Sistine Chapel and make them Saints of our people?

Would Pope Francis and his Catholics followers be OK with this?

If so, will my friends and followers get your coast and flying shoes on!

Or
Stop this 'rude-madness and spend a little time by, texting, emails, phone or media, something, anything, face to face would work fine and lets hash things out?

Remember, the pope's remembrance of Rosh Hashanah the Jews New Year and the kindness to the Muslim people and as well he should?

And yet he and his followers are 'hell bent on rudely" stepping on the Native American Ancestors by making a saint out of a shrine builder?

If this does go through they we all should do a little investigating on the Roman Catholic Church?

We all know who the leader of the Christian Religion (Church) is or should be,

(The Trinity)!

What the question now should be is,

"Who was the first leader (Pope if you well) of the Roman Catholic Religion

(Church)?"

The Roman Emperor St. Constantine (1) the Great.

The Christian church that Constantine promoted was a mixture of true Christianity and Roman paganism.

In the New Testament,

there is no mention of the papacy,

God is the only leader?

worship/adoration of Mary (or the immaculate conception of Mary,

the perpetual virginity of Mary,

the assumption of Mary, or Mary as co-redemptrix and mediatrix).

"Jesus Christ and only Jesus Christ under orders from father 'God' is the way, the truth and the light!"

"Mary, no longer a virgin wife of Joseph with many children, is not the Mother of God!"

Petitioning saints in heaven for their prayers?

"All prayers should go to God and blessings come from God."

apostolic succession,

the ordinances of the church functioning as sacraments,

infant baptism,

confession of sin to a priest?

"Confessions(prayer) to your God."

purgatory,

indulgences,

the equal authority of church tradition and Scripture.

"The bible, the Christian word from God, is the only Authority over all creation!"

Question: "What is the origin of the Catholic Church?"

The Roman Catholic Church contends that its origin is the death, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus Christ in approximately AD 30. The Catholic Church proclaims itself to be the church that Jesus Christ died for, the church that was established and built by the apostles. Is that the true origin of the Catholic Church?

On the contrary. Even a cursory reading of the New Testament will reveal that the Catholic Church does not have its origin in the teachings of Jesus or His apostles.

In the New Testament, there is no mention of the papacy, worship/adoration of Mary (or the immaculate conception of Mary, the perpetual virginity of Mary, the assumption of Mary, or Mary as co-redemptrix and mediatrix), petitioning saints in heaven for their prayers, apostolic succession, the ordinances of the church functioning as sacraments, infant baptism, confession of sin to a priest, purgatory, indulgences, or the equal authority of church tradition and Scripture.

So, if the origin of the Catholic Church is not in the teachings of Jesus and His apostles, as recorded in the New Testament, what is the true origin of the Catholic Church?

For the first 280 years of Christian history, Christianity was banned by the Roman Empire, and Christians were terribly persecuted.

This changed after the “conversion” of the Roman Emperor Constantine.

Constantine provided religious toleration with the Edict of Milan in AD 313, effectively lifting the ban on Christianity.

Later, in AD 325, Constantine called the Council of Nicea in an attempt to unify Christianity.

Constantine envisioned Christianity as a religion that could unite the Roman Empire, which at that time was beginning to fragment and divide.

While this may have seemed to be a positive development for the Christian church, the results were anything but positive.

Just as Constantine refused to fully embrace the Christian faith, but continued many of his pagan beliefs and practices, so the Christian church that Constantine promoted was a mixture of true Christianity and Roman paganism.

Constantine found that, with the Roman Empire being so vast, expansive, and diverse, not everyone would agree to forsake his or her religious beliefs to embrace Christianity. So, Constantine allowed, and even promoted, the “Christianization” of pagan beliefs. Completely pagan and utterly unbiblical beliefs were given new “Christian” identities. Some clear examples of this are as follows:

(1) The Cult of Isis, an Egyptian mother-goddess religion, was absorbed into Christianity by replacing Isis with Mary. Many of the titles that were used for Isis, such as “Queen of Heaven,” “Mother of God,” and theotokos (“God-bearer”) were attached to Mary. Mary was given an exalted role in the Christian faith, far beyond what the Bible ascribes to her, in order to attract Isis worshippers to a faith they would not otherwise embrace. Many temples to Isis were, in fact, converted into temples dedicated to Mary. The first clear hints of Catholic Mariology occur in the writings of Origen, who lived in Alexandria, Egypt, which happened to be the focal point of Isis worship.

Indians and their Feathers

Before I begin, no self-respecting Traditional believer in Creator will go out and kill a creation just to hold a ceremony. When our ancestors needed food they asked in prayer for permission from the prey they wish to eat, if the food up and left it was a sign. When our ancestors needed a feather, they asked the bird for a feather, if it was really needed the bird had plenty and would provide it.

Again the biggest problem with (INDIANS) Native Americans is that they still do not wish to unite!

Every other race of people on Mother Earth understands that together is the only way to get the ruling powers attention!

Each section of Indian country tribe's, believes that their gripe with the federal government is the only one that matters to them, this is really not so hard to believe, we cannot even agree about what name we want the non's to call us! Indian? No, Native American? No, American native? No, American Indian. No call me by my tribe. No, because many of us have families from two or three tribes?

Each and every time we get into one of our "ME FIRST" phase the government both state and federal are laughing at us and they have been laughing for centuries now!

Fifty percent of Indian Country are out in the cold now because of not sticking together. the other half sold their soles and their people to the non's and never turned back to see the damage that they did to their own people.

All that the following people just want to have their tribal rights to a feather. What about your brothers and sisters people?

The other half, the so call “Recognized people” are also laughing because they can get a feather, tuff on their brothers and sister, let them fend for themselves!

Armed agents desecrate sacred fire on San Francisco Peaks

Is This Ignorance Or Malice, You Decide

Recently there have been two places of Native American Cultural significance,

or to us, Sacred Places, that have been abused by Non Native people,

representing the U.S. Forest Service.

One was in the Deep South, in Georgia, the other in the Far West, in California.

The thing that these two events have in common, is a seemingly complete lack of respect

or awareness, of just how important these places were and are to Native People.

I have personally seen this kind of shameful lack of respect for our Sacred Places,

while attending a Celebration Event at the Natchez Sacred Mounds in Louisiana.

For longer that I care to remember, I watched in total shock while people,

who did not appear to be Natives, both adults and children, played a game

of football on the top of the Sacred Mounds.

No one in the area who saw this happen, seemed to find anything wrong with this

and this is a memory that I cannot ever forget.

Standing together has never been one of our strengths, but if we as a People, as a race,

do not join hands across this country, these Sacred Places, as well as our very being,

may soon become like the dust blowing in the wind.

If you are able, please write, call, blog, do something, do anything, just get involved,

but please, please, do not ignore these things.

It is never going to stop unless and until, we as a People stop it.

My ancestors, your ancestors, are watching and waiting for us to unite and

once again become the strong, proud, First People of this Country.

We cannot remain silent anymore.

Forest Service desecrates sacred fire on San Francisco Peaks, after similar abuse of Winnemem Wintu ceremony in California!

My heart and prayers go out to California and the San Francisco Peaks 13 area Native American Nations, including Navajos, Havasupai, Hualapai, Hopi and Pueblos because of their culture, ceremonies and problems between them and Arizona, U.S. Forest Service officials.

We in the east also speak on behalf of Mother Earth the four legged/those that swim/those that crawl/those that fly/those that burrow in the Earth/the plant and tree Nations ( with the permission of Creator).

As one of those East Coast Spiritual People I can only speak from our ceremonies and culture.

Creator gave us tobacco herbs (Kinnick, Kinnick) for times just like this when drought makes for uncontrolled fires.

I offer prayers as when teaching in jails, prisons and any place were fire is impossible yet prayer is needed and also between Sacred Fires with Sacred Ceremonies.

Yes!

We also have many closed minded federal agents not concerned with facts, Federal agencies using terms like federally recognized and federally unrecognized, just what does that mean? No one really knows, it is just words!

This has always been their way of dividing the Indigenous Peoples.

We are also united under the Creator’s Law with you as United Indigenous Nations, to protect and extend Life for all future generations no matter the color of the skin!
