You will find out that no Traditional tribe speaks about this except to say

" Every child in a tribe is adopted by every elder as far as caring and teaching that child".

As I am sure that you have found out, there are many different teachings about our ceremonies, for instance, my people do not have a peace pipe, at least the old traditional Pequot/Mohegan's did not!

We have many pipes however, the one closest to an answer to your question is our Friendship ceremony pipe.
